





Petroleum Engineering Technology System for Ultra-Deep and Extra-Deep Reservoirs
This system tackles critical challenges such as safe and rapid drilling in extreme depths, establishing a comprehensive suite of technologies centered on processes, tools, instruments, and materials. It has enabled the drilling of 14 ultra-deep wells exceeding 9,000 meters, repeatedly setting new records for the deepest onshore wells in Asia. The capability to handle engineering design, construction, and technical services for complex formations beyond 9,000 meters has provided robust support for major discoveries, including the billion-ton-scale Shunbei oil and gas field in Xinjiang’s Tarim Basin and the exploration and development of ultra-deep reservoirs in the Sichuan Basin.
Shale Gas Petroleum Engineering Technology System
This system has overcome key technical challenges such as extended-reach horizontal drilling and completion, and large-scale hydraulic fracturing for shale gas development. It comprises five major technology series: geological evaluation, drilling engineering, fracturing and well testing, key equipment and tools, and surface engineering. The complete localization of tools and instruments has supported China's shale gas engineering technology in evolving from inception to leadership. The system has contributed to the development of the Fuling Shale Gas Field—the first large-scale commercial shale gas project outside North America—and the Weirong Deep Shale.
Iteratively Upgraded Shale Oil Petroleum Engineering Technology System
This innovatively developed system integrates geology and engineering for continental rift shale oil, featuring a series of advanced technologies such as: high-temperature resistant, multi-scale sealing synthetic-based drilling fluid for accelerated drilling; full-process fine managed pressure drilling in narrow window formations; highly efficient cementing of shale oil horizontal wells; ultra-long core sampling in shale oil reservoirs; network fracturing with hybrid fractures in horizontal wells; integrated evaluation of dual sweet spots using logging and mud logging data. These technologies have robustly supported breakthrough shale oil discoveries in key areas including the Shengli Jiyang and Subei Basins.
Offshore Premium & Rapid Drilling Technology System
This system continuously explores drilling technologies tailored to offshore characteristics, forming an integrated approach that includes: deep and ultra-deep well drilling; horizontal well drilling; extended-reach directional well drilling; complex structure well drilling; underbalanced well drilling; intensive cluster well group drilling; reservoir protection; advanced drilling fluid systems. The system has significantly enhanced offshore operational efficiency and comprehensive construction capabilities, setting domestic offshore records for daily drilling progress and achieving the deepest well depths in the East China Sea and Bohai Sea. It has robustly supported the exploration and discovery of major offshore oil and gas fields, contributing to the East China Sea's annual natural gas production exceeding 5 billion cubic meters and enabling major breakthroughs in the "twin" thousand-ton wells in the Beibu Gulf's marine depression.
